Sankomota
Fondé en 1976, à Maseru, Sankomota est un groupe du « royaume des montagnes » du Lesotho développant une musique entre afro-jazz et jazz-rock. Appelé initialement Uhuru (Liberté), le groupe était composé à ses débuts de Frank Moki Leepa aka The Captain (compositeur, guitare, percussions, Lead Vocals), Tsepo Tshola aka The Village Pope (auteur-compositeur, Lead Vocals), Pitso Sera (guitare), Joshua ‘Joeman’ Tladi aka Jo-man Tladi (keyboards), Teboha Mokoena aka Sponki (percussions, congas). Sankomota a aussi accueilli d’autres artistes comme Black Jesus (percussions), Moss Masiu Nkofo (batterie, percussions), Moruti Selate (basse, percussions), « Jimbo » Ngwandi et Bakithi « Bottom » (basse), etc.

Sankomota fut le premier groupe à enregistrer un LP au Lesotho, réalisé par Lloyd Ross et Warrick Sony de Shifty Records le 11 novembre 1983. Suivront plusieurs autres albums : «  »Dreams Do Come True » (1987), « The Writing’s On The Wall » (1989), « Exploration – A New Phase » (1991), « After The Storm » (1993), « Frankly Speaking » (2001), « The Best Of Sankomota 1981-1991 » (1995), « Greatest Hits » (2003), « The Best Of Tsepo Tshola & Sankomota » (2006)…
